Chasing After You

I’ve never been in love like this before,
I’ve never had all I wanted so close to my door
but still don’t have the strength
to finally get up from this dirty, empty floor.

I’m alive when I could’ve been left to die
on that sad moment I still can’t explain of why
was I stubborn or blind to not see I’d make you cry
the adrenaline and my ego was but flying high
and I thought life was a given and I didn’t try,
to be so much better and reach for the sky
to achieve success not just getting by.

You’ve always smiled
when I am looking up to you
when you see me trying ever so hard
and wishing what I know now before I knew.
When I look for a different way
to express my point of view.
To finally catch up,
and stop chasing after you.

Years now have passed
and things seems they’re all the same
I’m no different than before
you still play with me that same game,
where you act like you know me,
but you don’t even know my name.
One day I will have the courage to leave,
and you’re the only one to blame.
Why do you keep running, that’s a shame
why do you keep testing my will?
Why must you keep me…
Always chasing after you.
